تَرَك is this week’s Lebanese Arabic Word of the Week

tarak is a verb that means to leave, or to quit (a habit, a relationship). Here is how it is conjugated:

بيِِترُك، عم يِِترُك ، رح يِِترُك ، تارِك

 

بِترُك البيت السّاعة سبعة كلّ يوم
bitrok el-beyt es-sei3ah sab3ah kil yoom
I leave home at 7:00 every day.

 

بِسَبَب المشاكِل الِكتيرة تركو بعض
bisabab el-masheikil li-ktiireh, tarako ba3D
Due to the many problems, they broke up.

 

ها الشَخِص تَرَك أثَر كبير بِحياتي
Ha sh-shakhiS tarak atar kbiir bi-7ayeity
