How to say “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year” in Arabic

ALPS Beirut wishes you happy holidays and a wonderful 2015. Before the holidays come make sure you know these important holiday greetings in Lebanese Arabic:

ينعاد  عليك

Yin3aad 3leyk (3leyki-3aleykon) – This is a good go-to greeting for almost any holiday that anyone in Lebanon is celebrating. Reply with:

وعليك

To tell someone Merry Christmas, you have a few options:

عيد ميلاد سعيد

3eid miileid sa3iid

ميلاد مجيد

Miileid majiid

وُلِد المسيح

Wulida l Masii7

Here are two ways to wish someone a happy new year:

كل سنة وانت بخير

Kil sineh w2inta (w2inti-w2into) bkheyr

كل سنة وانتَ سالم

Kil sineh w2inta seilim (w2inti seilmeh-w2into seilmiin)

And if you are in Lebanon make sure to check out the Christmas tree in Byblos, recently featured in the Wall Street Journal.
