Tips from Our Students

What advice would you give to new students coming to Beirut to study Arabic?

  • Coming to a new country and learning a new language can be intimidating, but the paitence, support, and cultural education you recieve from the Lebanese, makes the experience more fabulous than you could ever imagine.
  • In terms of advice to students coming to study in Beirut I would say that when speaking arabic on the street or in the classroom don’t be afraid to make mistakes/ have a go – as this is the way you improve and familiarise yourself with the language. Many people in Beirut (particularly in Hamra) speak good English so I would encourage students to try not to fall into a comfort zone and speak and absorb as much Arabic as they can, whether it is ordering food in a restaurant, or conversing with the locals by the corniche, or watching Lebanese TV.
